The Lewis County Special Education Cooperative provides free, annual Child Find screenings for preschool-age children who are residents of member districts.
We evaluate developmental progress in:
- motor coordination
- learning skills
- social and emotional behaviors
Our goal is to ensure all children who need early intervention are referred for service. Any family that would like to check the developmental level of their child/children is encouraged to participate. We also recommend screenings for all children who will enter kindergarten in the next year.
We offer screenings once per year, between March and May. We will post the dates for this school year by February.
Please find a screening in your resident school district only. If your family is living in a temporary situation, contact the district where you are staying to attend a screening.
Preparing for the screening:
- Birth–3-year-old screenings take about 30 minutes.
- The 3– 5-year-old screening takes about 1 to 1-1/2 hours and is more comprehensive. Your child should wear comfortable clothes and shoes that allow them to run and jump.
